Terms of service
Version 1.0.0 · Effective June 1, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Together, a mobile application and related services operated by The Hack House ("we," "us," or "our").
Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account, downloading, or using Together, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Together.
1. Who we are
Together is built and operated by The Hack House.
Contact: hello@thehackhouse.co
Website: https://together.thehackhouse.co
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract to use Together.
By using Together, you represent that you meet these requirements and that all registration information you provide is accurate and current.
Together is intended for personal use by couples or partners seeking to improve communication. It is not a substitute for professional therapy, medical care, or emergency services.
3. Description of the service
Together allows you to:
- Record conversations (with your device's microphone)
- Transcribe recordings with speaker identification
- Receive AI-generated analysis inspired by Gottman Method communication research
- Save and review session history on your device and, when signed in, in your cloud account
Together provides informational and educational feedback only. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition. It does not create a therapist–client, doctor–patient, or other professional relationship between you and The Hack House or any third party.
If you are in crisis or danger, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional immediately. Together is not an emergency service.
4. Account registration and security
4.1 Creating an account
You may register using email and password, Google Sign-In, or Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account.
4.2 Accurate information
You agree to provide accurate account information and to update it as needed.
4.3 Account security
Notify us promptly at hello@thehackhouse.co if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
5. Subscriptions and billing
5.1 Tiers
Together offers a Free tier with limited monthly sessions and a paid Couple tier with a higher monthly session allowance. Specific limits and pricing are displayed in the App and may change from time to time.
As of the effective date of these Terms:
| Tier | Monthly sessions | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 3 | No charge |
| Couple | 20 | Monthly or annual subscription via Apple App Store or Google Play |
Prices, session caps, and features are subject to change. We will provide notice where required by applicable law or platform policy.
5.2 Payment processing
Paid subscriptions are processed by Apple (iOS) or Google (Android), not directly by The Hack House. Your purchase is subject to the applicable store's terms and privacy policy.
Subscription management (renewal, cancellation, refunds) is handled through your App Store or Google Play account settings unless otherwise required by law.
5.3 RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to manage entitlements and link your subscription to your Together account. RevenueCat receives identifiers necessary to verify your subscription status.
5.4 Auto-renewal
Paid subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period through your store account. You are responsible for managing auto-renewal settings.
5.5 Refunds
Refund requests are governed by Apple or Google policies. We do not control store refund decisions except where required by law.
5.6 Free tier and changes
We may modify free-tier limits or introduce new tiers. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Together in violation of any applicable law or regulation
- Record any person without obtaining all legally required consents
- Use Together to harass, threaten, defame, or harm another person
- Submit content you do not have the right to record or share
- Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the App or our systems
- Circumvent subscription limits, authentication, or security measures
- Use Together for commercial resale or unauthorized professional clinical use
- Upload malware or attempt unauthorized access to our or third-party systems
- Misrepresent AI-generated analysis as professional clinical advice
We may suspend or terminate access for conduct that violates these Terms or poses risk to us, other users, or third parties.
7. Recording consent and legal compliance
You are solely responsible for compliance with wiretapping, eavesdropping, and recording laws in your jurisdiction. In many locations, recording a conversation requires the consent of all parties.
Together provides recording tools but does not verify consent. By recording, you represent that you have obtained all necessary permissions.
We are not liable for your failure to obtain required consent or for any legal consequences arising from your recordings.
8. Your content
8.1 What you provide
"Your Content" includes audio recordings, transcripts, context notes, profile information, and other material you submit through Together.
You retain ownership of Your Content. These Terms do not transfer ownership to us.
8.2 License to us
To operate Together, you grant The Hack House a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, reproduce, process, and transmit Your Content solely to provide and improve the service — including transmitting audio to transcription providers and transcripts to analysis providers as described in our Privacy Policy.
This license ends when Your Content is deleted from our systems, except for reasonable backup retention and copies we are required to keep by law.
8.3 Responsibility for Your Content
You are solely responsible for Your Content and for ensuring you have all rights necessary to submit it. Do not submit content that infringes third-party rights or violates law.
9. AI-generated analysis
Together uses automated systems, including third-party AI models, to generate communication analysis. You acknowledge and agree that:
- Analysis is automated and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate for your situation
- Analysis is not professional therapy, counseling, medical advice, or a clinical assessment
- You should use judgment when acting on any feedback and consult qualified professionals as needed
- We do not guarantee specific relationship outcomes
10. Intellectual property
10.1 Our property
Together, including its software, design, branding, documentation, and underlying technology, is owned by The Hack House or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App as intended.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of Together except as expressly permitted.
10.2 Feedback
If you submit suggestions or feedback, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use it without obligation to you.
10.3 Gottman Method
Together's analysis is inspired by Gottman Method research frameworks. Together is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The Gottman Institute unless we expressly state otherwise.
11. Third-party services
Together integrates with third-party services (including Supabase, AssemblyAI, Anthropic, RevenueCat, Google, and Apple). Your use of those services may be subject to their separate terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our reasonable control.
12. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use information. By using Together, you consent to our data practices as described there.
13. Disclaimers
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, TOGETHER IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY.
WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT TOGETHER WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR THAT ANALYSIS WILL BE ACCURATE OR SUITABLE FOR YOUR NEEDS.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers; in those jurisdictions, disclaimers apply to the fullest extent permitted.
14. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:
-
THE HACK HOUSE AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR RELATIONSHIP OUTCOMES, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF TOGETHER.
-
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR TOGETHER WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR TOGETHER IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (US $100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability for certain damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless The Hack House and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use of Together
- Your Content
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any law or third-party rights, including recording-consent laws
16. Termination
16.1 By you
You may stop using Together at any time. You may delete local and cloud data through in-app settings. To delete your account, use Settings → Account in the app or visit together.thehackhouse.co/delete-account.
16.2 By us
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. Where reasonable, we will provide notice.
16.3 Effect of termination
Upon termination, your right to use Together ends. Sections that by their nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute provisions) will survive.
17. Changes to the service or Terms
We may modify Together or these Terms at any time. When we update these Terms, we will revise the version and effective date at the top and provide additional notice for material changes where required.
Your continued use after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
Previous versions are archived in the Together Legal repository.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which The Hack House is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Any dispute arising from these Terms or Together will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in that state, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
Informal resolution: Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at hello@thehackhouse.co and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
Nothing in these Terms prevents you from reporting concerns to a regulatory authority or seeking relief in small claims court where eligible.
19. General
- Entire agreement: These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and The Hack House regarding Together.
- Severability: If any provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
- No waiver: Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
- Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force majeure: We are not liable for delays or failures due to events beyond our reasonable control.
